Lefty's Food Club Bets

Welcome to my Food Club betting page! I'm Lefty (Sidney) and I've been playing Food Club for fifteen years. Food Club is easily my favorite game on Neopets. I'm a regular in the competition hosted on the FC chat thread in the Games forum. Come join us!

The simplest way to describe Food Club is that it is like betting on a horse race, except you're betting on which pirates will win the daily eating contest. It is a gambling game and there is some risk involved. I strongly advise that you not bet more than you are prepared to lose. You will win some days, and you will lose some days. With some luck and a consistent betting strategy you can expect to see a nice profit over time.

For players just starting out and want to make their own bets, I recommend reading Revenge's Guide and Sir Hatter's Guide for more information about the game and suggested betting strategies. Links to both of them are in the sidebar.

For info about strings: visit Jellyneo's Food Club guide and scroll down to "Making Educated Bets." Read the banner with the Green Jelly Kacheek and proceed from there to neofood.club. You can paste the string to the end of the URL to view a set of bets. Be mindful of the round number.

Sunday, December 14, 2025 - #9718

Important: The gates close between 1:45 pm - 2:15 pm NST, with results processing late at about 5:23 pm NST. Results timing continues to get a little later each day.

I post my bets in two different formats: in shorthand (as you'll see immediately below), and also in table format. The shorthand is intended to make it easier for players to understand the pattern of the set. The table is how my bets appear under Current Bets on the FC page.

Today's set:

Two positives, three safeties. Boosted TI, the base bet, and bets on Puffo and Dan in HH.

Fran x Ned
(Stripey, Orvinn) x Goob
Fran x (Fed, Sproggie, Cross, Beard) x Goob
Fran x Goob x (Puffo, Dan)
Fran x Goob

Today's string:

Gambit: Lucky x Fran x Fed x Goob x Puffo

My Betting Style

Strictly speaking, I don't follow a system; however, I do have guidelines which I follow. With few exceptions (e.g., illness, travel, no internet), I bet every day.

Here are some thoughts about Skip Days. These are days when the odds are considered poor, bad, or otherwise undesirable. Many players choose not to bet on days such as these, and that is perfectly fine and reasonable. However, I take a different point of view. To me, such days present an opportunity to think outside the box and have some fun. To lower risk you can always bet a smaller amount of NP than usual.

Up until now, I had not actually looked at the data closely. My impression was that my skip day results were generally worth doing: likely better than 50% favorable. To test this idea, I looked back at my results on skip days over a whole year. In this case I looked at the data from 2023 and found that there were 24 skip days in all. I then looked at my wins vs. losses for those 24 days. The results showed that I lost 10 rounds (42%), and I won 14 rounds (58%). So my outcome was a little better than I had thought, and resulted in 238 additional units that I wouldn't have won if I'd skipped.

1. As a general rule, I like to take some risk because it is: (a) more fun and interesting to do so in my opinion; and (b) more profitable over time. However, I don't get too risky, and most of the time I incorporate safeties in my betting. I like to cover double upsets when it makes sense to do so.

2. My favorite type of card is when there is at least one arena with a clearly favored pirate (meaning there is a 2:1 pirate and the other pirates are 5:1 or greater). It's better still when at least two of the pirates are long shots (at 10:1 to 13:1). The more arenas like this on a given day the better.

3. Whenever possible I try to incorporate bets on pirates that have a positive Estimated Value (EV).

4. I avoid making bets that will yield less then 10:1 (breaking even), unless there's a good chance of a cascade. Then they add up, which is good.

5. I don't pay much attention to Food Adjustments and believe that the opening odds are the best indicators of outcome. I've seen pirates with FAs of 7 and 8 lose, hence my skepticism.

Food Club in a Nutshell

• 20 hungry pirates randomly assigned to 5 arenas for each match. One pirate from each arena will win in each match. For a bet to win, all of the pirates contained in that bet must win!

• Odds of winning go from 2:1 (the best, most favorable) up to 13:1 (long shot, least favorable).

• Any pirate in each arena has a chance to win.

• The maximum amount that you can bet each day is based on your account age. It is 50 + 2 for every day you have been playing Neopets.

• The more you bet the more you can win. If you can afford it, why not bet the max amount? You don't have to, of course.

• There is a limit of 10 bets per match. The maximum amount that you can win from an individual bet is 1 million np.

FC Notes

1. If you choose to copy another player's bets then you really should make all 10 bets. They are designed to work together to ensure coverage of different possible outcomes. The idea is to maximize your chance of winning, however there are no guarantees.

2. Keep in mind that this is a gambling game and unexpected outcomes can and do happen. Don't bet more neopoints than you are prepared to lose. Follow these bets (or any other player's for that matter) at your own risk.

3. Your HST score in Food Club is determined by the total amount of winnings that you collect at one time. If you want to try for the trophy then you can hold a maximum of 8 consecutive days of winnings (bust days count). If you are holding after the round on the eighth day then you MUST collect before 7:00 PM NST or you will forfeit the winnings from the first day of your hold. Assuming you are aiming for a trophy at the beginning of the month, a good way to remember when to start holding is to go by the day of the week of the first of the month. For example, if the first of the month is going to fall on a Monday, then start your trophy run on the preceding Monday (or Tuesday/Tuesday, and so on).

4. Please note that the odds can change throughout the day. The odds shown in my posted bets reflect what they were at the time that I updated the page.

Food Club Pirates

Below are all of the pirates that are competing in Food Club. I may not update this every day. You can find the most current win/loss on Food Club under Pirates What is Food Club you ask? Food Club is an eating contest among 20 infamous pirates. There are 5 arenas and 1 pirate from each arena will win the match. To play you bet on a pirate or a series of pirates in different arenas. Every pirate in the bet must win for you to win the bet. There are odds for each pirate and those can change throughout the day. If you want to be conservative you might go with the odds and stay pretty safe. You will likely win but not in a big way. Or.... you can be like me and take risks. You will sometimes look at my bets and say what on earth is Cameila doing. I focus on getting the big wins. It is strategy which works for me. But then again if I lose I do not sweat it. But I have won big. My trophy proves that! How much can you bet? That depends on the age of your account. For each day of age th...

Food Club - A Complete Guide of Definitions

The Basics Food Club is a game of chance and luck. It's a great way to earn hundreds of thousands of points by basically doing nothing. However, the math and layout of the game instantly turn people away from it, and the idea of losing hard-earned neopoints can scare people. It's not hard at all once you try it out and learn how it works. This guide exists to, well,  guide  you through Food Club (called FC throughout this guide) and teach you how to bet on your own. Okay, let's start! Each day, a round is held where 20 pirates face each other in a food eating competition. There are 5 different arenas, and each arena holds 4 pirates. Each arena hosts many different types of foods, and the pirates have different favorites and allergies of certain foods. This can greatly affect the outcome of the winners. In each round, you can place a maximum of 10 different bets, using any combination of pirates from the different arenas. How much you can bet depends on how old your acco...
