Bon's guide to Really Lazy Food Club

Ok, the idea of Food Club is that there are a bunch of pirates and they eat a bunch of food that they may or may not be allergic to, and you're betting on something to do with this.

But you don't need to know any of that to play Lazy Food Club. You can ignore everything but what you'll find on the "Place A Bet" page:

//www.neopets.com/pirates/foodclub.phtml?type=bet

You'll see there are five "arenas" each with four pirates. This changes daily. The idea is that you'll bet on the pirates that are most likely to win. The best odds are 2:1, and the worst are 13:1. Playing Lazy Food Club, you'll only be betting on the 2:1's.

So check the pirates in Shipwreck and look at their odds. Is there someone at 2:1? Great! Now comes the tricky part... what is the *next best* odds? If it's too close to 2:1, then I don't bet. I only bet if the next best is 5:1 or worse, because that seems a pretty safe bet. You can choose to be more or less picky on this point, it's a matter of how much risk you want to take. It's still Lazy Food Club. :)

So if Shipwreck has a good bet, click the checkbox to the left, and repeat the process through all 5 arenas. Some days there are no "safe" bets. Other days, you'll find yourself with 3 or 4 boxes checked. Woohoo, those are happy days!!

Just above where you place your bets, it will tell you how much you are allowed to bet. I always bet the max amount. The more you bet, the more you win! And you're making pretty safe bets. I lose sometimes, but over time, I am WAY ahead:
Bets PlacedBet TotalWin TotalDifference

If there's only one good bet, then you just put in your bet amount, and click to place your bet. That couldn't be simpler.

But what if there are two or more good bets? Let's get an example:

Shipwreck has 12:1, 13:1, 9:1, 2:1
Lagoon has 7:1, 13:1, 2:1, 9:1
Harpoon has 2:1, 8:1, 13:1, 7:1
and the rest are not so good, so you ignore them. ;)

First, you'll check the boxes next to all three of Shipwreck, Lagoon, and Harpoon. You'll choose the 2:1's for all three of them, put in your bet amount, and place your bet. You're basically betting that ALL THREE of these guys will win.

Now go to the Place a Bet page again. This time, bet on only Shipwreck and Lagoon. Then bet on Shipwreck and Harpoon. And then Lagoon and Harpoon.

Finally, bet on Shipwreck alone. Then only Lagoon. And only Harpoon.

What you've done is taken those three "safe" odds, and bet on all possible combinations of them. This is how you can make tons of money from FC!!

One final note about making bets... you can only make a maximum of 10 bets per round. That won't be an issue unless there are 4 or 5 good arenas, in which case you won't be able to bet on all possible combinations. If that happens, just make any 10 bets that make you happy.

All right, so at 2pm NST, the pirates start eating, and about 20 minutes later (they eat fast!), the results are posted. At this point, you can collect your winnings. Yes, you have to actually go there and collect them!! they aren't given to you automatically. And if you leave winnings uncollected for more than a week, they disappear... so remember to check!

Food Club Pirates

Below are all of the pirates that are competing in Food Club. I may not update this every day. You can find the most current win/loss on Food Club under Pirates What is Food Club you ask? Food Club is an eating contest among 20 infamous pirates. There are 5 arenas and 1 pirate from each arena will win the match. To play you bet on a pirate or a series of pirates in different arenas. Every pirate in the bet must win for you to win the bet. There are odds for each pirate and those can change throughout the day. If you want to be conservative you might go with the odds and stay pretty safe. You will likely win but not in a big way. Or.... you can be like me and take risks. You will sometimes look at my bets and say what on earth is Cameila doing. I focus on getting the big wins. It is strategy which works for me. But then again if I lose I do not sweat it. But I have won big. My trophy proves that! How much can you bet? That depends on the age of your account. For each day of age th...

Neopets Food Club Bets Today 2026

After my gold trophy run, I tasted the sweet flavor of gambling, so my betting style is probably a bit riskier than what it once was (no more totally YOLO though). I'll continue including the safe bet section. If the number of the neofoodclub string is different than the number of the round I write after the date, then bets are for the new round but I forgot to update the date in the commentary! Yesterday's results: Tanked, I hoped in other upsets (was kinda expecting a 13:1, but Blackbeard came really out of the blue). Today's bets (Sunday, 9718) : 10-betting on Gooblah, and on Fran (Stuff is tantalizing, but we already had a bonkers upset yesterday). Lame bets with every non-13 else bar Blackbeard (the aforementioned bonkers upset). Safe set: A safety for Ned, the rest for Gooblah. Adding everyone in Lagoon, then in Island; boosting with non-13s in Shipwreck. Neofoodclub string : /#round=9718&b=diarpdsapqddkpsddyppsdbpp Safe set string : /#round=9718&b=aeafpcdaupd...

Neopets Food Club Strategy

Broadly speaking, my approach to Food Club is very similar to a Modern Portfolio Theory approach that you might encounter in an intro to Financial Economics. That is, we want to determine the sets that lie along the Efficient Frontier -- those that minimize variance for any given average return level. In order to achieve this, I wrote an algorithm that traverses the space of all sets and estimates the average return and variance of each. Measure of risk One important note here is that variance of returns is my measure of risk, which is different from most bettors, who instead look mostly at bust rate, partial rate, and profit rate to measure risk. Although the two measures of risk are often quite correlated, a variance-based risk measure tends to deprioritize bust/partial/profit rates on days with particularly bad or particularly good odds. For example, on bad days, you might have a very low-variance set that still has an exceedingly high partial rate, because a partial result may...
